Mónica Rojas

Overview

Mónica Rojas is a performing artist, scholar, and cultural activist whose work spans performance, education, research, and community engagement centered on Afro-Peruvian and Afro-Latine traditions. Her website was designed as a central digital platform to unify these intersecting roles into a cohesive and engaging online presence.

Our role included UX/UI strategy, information architecture, visual design, and website development—crafting an experience that reflects her artistic identity while making her academic and cultural work easily accessible to diverse audiences.

Challenge

The primary challenge was organizing a highly multifaceted body of work into a clear, intuitive digital experience. Mónica’s projects span live performance, educational initiatives, scholarly publications, visual arts, and community-based cultural programs, each with distinct audiences and content needs.

The website needed to balance artistic expression with academic credibility, while maintaining straightforward navigation for visitors ranging from arts presenters and researchers to collaborators and media professionals.

Process

We began by defining a scalable information architecture that could organize multiple content ecosystems—including featured artistic projects, publications, biography, press materials, and contact pathways.

The UX process included wireframing user flows for project exploration, publication access, and media engagement, followed by the development of a visual system inspired by Mónica’s cultural and artistic identity. Typography, color, photography, and motion were carefully selected to create a digital experience that feels both refined and deeply human.

Special attention was given to responsive behavior, ensuring the platform translated seamlessly across desktop, tablet, and mobile environments, while maintaining accessibility, readability, and long-term content flexibility.

Outcome

The final website became a dynamic digital home that authentically represents Mónica Rojas’ multidisciplinary practice. The platform successfully merges scholarship, performance, and cultural storytelling into a unified experience that is visually compelling, easy to navigate, and strategically positioned for international visibility.

More than a portfolio, the website functions as a living cultural archive—strengthening Mónica’s personal brand while creating meaningful access to her artistic and academic contributions.
