Latin Grammy nominee Paoli Mejías is an acclaimed Puerto Rican percussionist recognized worldwide for his mastery in Latin jazz and salsa. As bandleader and current member of the Carlos Santana Band, Mejías blends Afro-Caribbean, Mediterranean, and jazz influences to create a vibrant and modern sound that transcends borders.

Project
The LP® Jazzambia Conga Series, designed in collaboration with Latin Percussion (LP®), embodies this artistic fusion. The visual and structural design reflects the blend of African, Puerto Rican, and Caribbean traditions that define Mejías’s musical identity.

Process
Working closely with the artist and LP’s design team, the project combined aesthetic creativity with technical precision. The goal was to create an instrument that not only expressed Paoli’s cultural roots and artistic vision but also met the highest professional performance standards.
